Made our way out to Opal Reef aboard the Calypso to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. Picture perfect weather. We visited 2 different areas of the reef. Absolutely amazing underwater vistas. It’s mind boggling to see the GBR that stretches 2,300 kilometres along the Queensland coast and includes over 2,900 reefs, and around 940 islands and cays. Over 1500 species of fish live amongst the corals. We were very excited about spotting several giant clams today and tons of fish including Nemo! Hopefully, I got some good photos with the underwater camera. Best part..no one encountered any jelly fish! Such a great thing that National Geographic has been instrumental in preserving and studying the GBR. We relaxed at the resort tonight and had dinner with Herb and Karen from Charlotte, NC. Tomorrow….off to Cambodia.
