Cairns, Australia

We have enjoyed our visit to Cairns, Queensland, Australia. We stayed in Port Douglas, which is about an hour North of Cairns. It is a lovely community reminiscent of Florida with similar vegetation and home styles. Wish we could have viewed the Daintree National Forest which is a World Heritage Site here, but not enough time for 2 all day excursions and the GBR was our main focus. We stopped at a Nature Preserve this morning to visit the animals of Australia before heading to our plane. So much fun feeding and petting the Wallabies and Kangaroos, Loved seeing the Little Joeys hanging out of their Momma’s Kangaroo pouches. We got to see several cute Koalas hanging out in their tree branches napping and bathing themselves. We just found out that the King of Cambodia will be staying at our hotel in Siem Reap while he is attending a Unesco conference! Jim has been up in the cockpit with the Plane’s Captain. He’s in heaven! Got some nice photo’s of him with the Pilot and Co-pilot. Jan did a great lecture on the history of Angkor Wat that we’ll be touring tomorrow. Rob presented a lecture on the history of National Geographic.
