Ethiopia to Jerusalem Travel Day

Ethiopia to Jerusalem Travel Day
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

After breakfast, we transferred to the Addidis Ababa International airport for out flight to Israel at 7:30am. Our flight today will take us over the Sudan and Egypt and the Mediterranean sea. We will make a stop in Larnaca, Cyprus for our luggage to go through security checks before entering Jerusalem. We have to take every single item we own off of the plane to carry it through security for inspection. For whatever reason, you can’t fly directly into Tel Aviv from certain countries. I expected this process to take forever, however it only took about 90 minutes. We were ushered into the Presidential lounge which had a nice seating area and good bathrooms (believe me, that was rarely the case on this trip!) and a beverage service counter for us to enjoy. Then we got back on the jet and flew on to Tel Aviv where we went through an expedited passport control. Once we finished the security processes, we transferred about 1 hour by bus to our hotel for dinner. (Flight time 5 hrs, 20 min) Buffet dinner in hotel tonight. Fabulous dessert table. Oh course, kosher foods and “biblical” foods are on many menus here. Very interesting menus at the local restaurants. There are kosher dairy restaurants where no meat or chicken is served. There are kosher meat restaurants where no dairy is served. Room service in the hotel abides by kosher rules so you cannot order any items with dairy and meat at the same time. Ordering cappuccino is a challenge!   The King David Hotel Jerusalem 1 USDollar=3.8 Israeli New Shekel
